DMG BRINGS ‘SHANGHAI SURPRISE’ TO AUDI LAUNCH

DMG Media, China’s leading full-service, independent advertising and communications agency, marked the Chinese launch of seven new Audi A5 and S5 models with a three-day long celebration. Hundreds of VIPs, journalists and fans were treated to a spectacular evening ‘ballet’ show, got to test drive the new models at a F1 racing circuit and were given a tour of the Shanghai World Expo.
The extravaganza began in the famous Bund area of Shanghai, where DMG had constructed a temporary theatre overlooking the Huangpu River, giving delegates a perfect view of China’s most modern city.
Against this backdrop, DMG showcased a carefully-choreographed ballet involving three new cars – literally flying into the venue. After spinning gracefully to the floor, the cars stopped in perfect formation revealing three beautiful models of a different kind – the stars of DMG Entertainment’s box office smash Go Lala Go – Jinglei Xu, Pace Wu, along with Chinese actress Kitty Zhang. The celebrities then drove the Audis around the stage, before giving the German car giant’s executives some great feedback on the new cars.
On the following day Audi’s guests had the unique opportunity chance to put the cars through their paces at Shanghai’s world famous Grand Prix track. After a short course highlighting the cars’ capabilities, delegates were invited to test drive the new models on Chinese F1 circuit – an activity that proved very popular.
For the final day of the event, DMG leveraged its role as a bridge between the East and West by treating guests to a Shanghai World Expo visit – a global meeting place for international innovation.
Dan Mintz, founder and chief creative officer of DMG, explained: “With Shanghai firmly in the international spotlight this year, we wanted to showcase the arrival of Audi’s latest engineering technology in China with something truly memorable. It’s clear there’s enormous opportunity for Western brands of all kinds here in China, placing a great deal of importance on making the right impression. It’s testament to Audi’s commitment to the Chinese market that this event was such a resounding success.”
